Inspired by many phone
conversations with Lois’s
sister Merle, Charlotte
Endorf felt a need to go to
NYC to be able to see what
the city is like today. When
Merle passed away, Endorf
traveled via Amtrak to
Colorado for her funeral.
She experienced much nicer
conditions than the orphans
would have, yet was able to
realize why many didn’t
remember such of the train
ride. Even the most excited
were probably lulled to
sleep by the movement of the
train. Riding in the dark, a
passenger can see virtually
nothing outside the train
except blackness. |
