Incredible Gems - Park View Inn

My family and I are fortunate to visit a lot of places and to meet a lot of people. Incredible Gems are special people and/or places we have had the good fortune to meet or visit. Incredible Gems are those that really stand out.

“A few years ago I did sideline work for a local travel agency.  I truly enjoyed the one day tours when I could venture to new places I’d never seen before.  One day our tour took us to West Bend, Iowa.  I could hardly believe it when the bus pulled up to the Grotto of Redemption.  I was even more flabbergasted when we toured where Butter Braids are made in this small town.

I decided it was a must to take my family back to see the wonderful Grotto and taste the Butter Braids. When looking for accommodations, we were delighted to find Park View Inn and Suites.  The first time our entire family went upon returning home from one of Sarah’s doctor appointments.  We’d never stayed in a themed suite before.  We decided to try their Safari Suite.  It is fantastic!

This two-room suite includes a corner whirlpool and one king sized bed. The suite has a living room with a sofa sleeper. The walls are decorated in a safari theme, reflected through paintings by local artists and pictures by a local photographer while working as a missionary in Kenya.

This time we wanted to try a different suite to see what else was available.  They have a public pool and hot tub, so we chose the Hunting Suite.  The hunting and fishing theme was right up ‘my’ hunter and fisherman’s alley!

This two-room suite with a fireplace and two queen sized beds also includes a sofa sleeper, table, two chairs, high-speed internet access, two televisions, 26” and 21”, with extended cables, microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and two telephones. This entire suite measures to 18’x 13’10” (490 square feet) to allow for maximum comfort and value.  When we booked it the kids couldn’t decide if they were coming or not.  It ended up just being Kevin and I.  However, would have been the perfect size for all four of us even though the kids have grown.

The complimentary breakfast was wonderful.  It is located just one block from the Grotto.  Food is located at the Grotto for lunch and further down the street are even more options for evening meals.  Just 18 miles away in nearby Algona is the Camp Algona POW Museum which is also a historical MUST SEE.   This may be a small set of communities but it is ‘big’ on quality, family entertainment.  Truly an Incredible Gem with it’s roots at the wonderful Park View Inn and Suites for a relaxing and most enjoyable stay.”
