“I took
one of
my
friends
who is a
teacher,
Jenny,
along
with me
to a
book
event in
Sidney.
We had
the
pleasure
to enjoy
some
time at
the
Cedar
Canyon
Ranch.
The
owners,
Bob and
Rosie,
were
most
gracious
making
sure our
every
need was
fulfilled.
We were
even
given a
tour
which
was very
much
enjoyed
around
the
entire
ranch.
The tour
was a
sight
seeing
tour of
the
amazing
beauty
of our
state,
allowing
us to
see for
miles
from the
top of
the
canyon.
It was
more
than
that
though.
It was
also a
historical
tour
taking
us into
the
states
only
National
Cemetery.
Taking a
moment
to
reflect
that
each of
the many
white
tombstones
is a
story in
itself.
Each who
bravely
and
proudly
served
our
country
including
an
ancestor
of the
ranch
owner
made me
extremely
proud.
The
peacefulness
of the
water in
the
canal
that
many a
fisherman
pulls
out a
big fish
made me
think of
home.
‘My
guys’
would
love to
snag one
of those
40 lb.
catfish
too I’m
certain…
And I’d
love to
eat it!
Tenters,
those
with
RV’s
(water,
electricity,
sewer,
flush
toilets,
fire
pits,
shower,
laundry
and
playground).
Hunters
would
all
absolutely
love
this
place.
I
picture
family
reunions
here
too.
Games
are just
sitting
here
waiting
for the
eager
family.
It would
be great
for the
gals
get-a-way
too.
Nice
tables
for
scrapbooking,
big
screen
television,
wireless
Internet…what
more do
you
need? A
great
place
for
birding.
The
garden
is so
peaceful.
I know
the
pipeline
workers
are
headed
south.
What a
wonderful
place to
stay,
close to
work yet
secluded.
We had
the
opportunity
to stay
in the
Ranch
House
Lodge
which
actually
sleeps
8.
It’s
available
year
around
with a
continental
breakfast.
It’s pet
friendly.
Teddy
enjoyed
himself
too!
I
especially
enjoyed
how
quiet
and
shady it
was.
Being
from the
city I
need
room to
roam.
You’ll
find it
here!
I
especially
enjoyed
reading
the
history
of Fort
McPherson
dating
back to
1864.
I sat
back
imagining
this
part of
our
state at
that
time.
Being
the
author
that I
am,
constantly
talking
about
the
history
of the
Orphan
Train
that
took
place
from
1853 –
1929
this was
especially
interesting
to me.
Jenny
and Bob
had so
much in
common
sharing
the fact
that
they
were
both
teachers.
It was
such a
terrific
stay,
I’d
recommend
it to
anyone…truly
one of
Nebraska’s
best
kept
secret’s
and a
definite
Incredible
Gem!”
