“Norfolk,
Nebraska
may be
best
known
for the
square
turn
tractor
that is
found in
our
Elkhorn
Valley
Museum
http://elkhornvalleymuseum.org/exhibits.htm.
A
company
dating
back to
1913
once
made
this
amazing
vehicle.
We moved
to
Verges
Ave.
over a
decade
ago,
could it
be that
Norfolk
is more
noted
for the
Verges
family
who
dedicated
102
years of
their
lives to
the area
in
medical
aid?
Johnny
Carson
moved to
Norfolk
when he
was
eight.
He
graduated
from
Norfolk
Senior
High
just as
our son
Spencer
will
next
year.
He
called
Norfolk
his
hometown
starting
his
showbiz
career
here
with his
magic
trick
talent
for
local
organizations.
Perhaps
he is
our
ICON…
No, I’m
convinced
that a
lady
with the
same
first
name as
my own
mother
Donna,
on the
western
most
edge of
Norfolk
holds
this
title
hands
down!
‘One way
to get
the most
out of
life is
to look
upon it
as an
adventure.’
–
William
Feather
All of
us have
a story
to tell
mixed
with
triumph
and a
dash of
tragedy.
Donna is
no
different.
I admire
those
who can
make an
adventure
out of
their
story.
Donna
has
certainly
done
that in
the best
interest
of
Norfolk.
When we
moved to
Norfolk
we
realized
her
nice,
new mini
golf
park
facility.
We’ve
enjoyed
it time
and time
again.
I was
proud to
include
her
expanded
facilities
with
perhaps
one of
the
nicest
hotels
and
restaurants
in the
state in
my
Norfolk
City
tours as
an
expansion
of my
downtown
walking
tours.
My
husband
and I
have
entertained
for a
variety
of local
businesses
who have
chosen
her
wonderful
new
conference
rooms
for
their
holiday
parties.
We found
this to
be a
wonderful,
close
‘get-a-way’
on New
Year’s
Eve with
food
that is
magnificent.
My mouth
still
waters
thinking
about
it. It
was a
pleasure
bringing
a
longtime
friend
to town
to speak
for our
Lyme
Awareness
meeting
last
night
with
such a
wonderful
suite to
accommodate
her.
She’s
from a
larger
city and
was very
impressed.
My
husband
and I
were
married
on Labor
Day
week-end
23 short
years
ago. He
has to
work
this
Labor
Day and
is
on-call
so we
wanted
to do
something
special
in
Norfolk.
We’re so
thrilled
that
Donna
had the
foresight
to build
the
DeVent
center.
I
purchased
tickets
to
attend
our
first
Summer
Concert.
We can
hardly
wait to
hear our
old
favorites
from our
dating
years, ‘Foreigner’
with
Cold as
Ice, Hot
Blooded,
Double
Vision
and
Feels
Like the
First
Time
as well
as
‘Kansas’
with
Dust in
the
Wind,
Carry on
Wayward
Son and
Point of
No
Return.
It’s
sure to
be one
of our
most
memorable
anniversaries
at what
I’d
classify
a local
Incredible
Gem.” |
