  Charlotte’s Speaking Schedule

In a short five-year time span Charlotte’s daughter, Sarah, has fought for her life with the strength of her family and close friends.  Be inspired and encouraged to know as one friend said:  “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles that one has overcome while trying to succeed.”

We may not choose the circumstances that we go through; but we DO choose the attitude that takes us through those circumstances.  When life happens to you do you choose to be positive or negative?  Do you use the storms of life as an excuse to fail or the reason to succeed?  Sarah chose to become a co-author and illustrator as a teen.  Some days she can barely lift a pen.  With a positive mental attitude, perseverance, and the right relationships you can go through anything life hands you.   Everything happens for a reason.

Book Charlotte for your event.

Comments from Students

Dear Charlotte,

My favorite person you talked about was Lester.  I thought it was cool how the agent could go up to houses and ask people if they want him or her.

Your friend, Cari Howell

Dear Charlotte,

I liked the part where you talked about Lela in an abusing and controlling home.

From, Cassandra

 Dear Charlotte,

Thanks for coming all the way from Norfolk.  My favorite was Agnes Siegel.  She lived in my town of Steinauer.

Lexi

 Dear Charlotte,

Thank you for teaching us about the Orphan Train.  I knew it existed but I had no idea how many were on the train that lived around here.

Thanks, Grant Tuttle (7th Grade)

Dear Charlotte,

I thought it was interesting that not many people knew about how badly orphans were treated.  When you gave that Raggedy Ann doll to that woman it was really nice of you.

Dear Charlotte,

We want to thank you for your wonderful presentation on Sunday (March 15th) at the Wayne Public Library Senior Center.  Your knowledge and first-hand experience were invaluable and such a blessing for those of us who were there.

You and Kevin are a very special team.  The history and artifacts relating to the children made the whole experience come to life.  I (Jay) viewed the DVD as soon as we got home.  It is such a beautiful story of hope and heartache.

Thank you for traveling all those miles to bring to us the stories and lives of those men and women.  You show your stories so well that we almost felt as if we were there.  Again, thank you!

Most sincerely,

Jay and Barbara Snell

JANUARY 2010

"We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee."                                                                                                       Marian Wright Edelman

Between January and March, 2010, I will be giving back to the youth of our community in appreciation and recognition for all I have been blessed with. I'll be serving as the new speech coach for Norfolk Lutheran High School.  Reverand Jason Wolter and my husband, Kevin, will be serving as my assistant speech advisors.

Calling all fellow Toastmasters from Norfolk and surrounding communities…  If you’d like to make a New Year’s resolution to do a good deed to “give back” and volunteer your evaluation skills.  Let me know.  The students are in constant need

of extra “ears” to hear them and we’d truly appreciate your time.  You’ll enjoy the peaceful, inspiring surroundings of their beautiful campus at the same time - and you would truly be 'making a difference.'
